Tucson, AZ (KOLD) - With the 259th pick, the Chicago Cubs selected Wildcat senior pitcher James Farris in the 9th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.
Farris finished his final season 6-6 though that record wasn't really indicative of how he performed. Farris actually improved his ERA from his junior season drop from 4.18 to 3.14. Along the way, Farris struck out 100 batters, good enough to finish second in the conference.
Farris was selected in the 15th round a year ago by the Houston Astros so staying in school turned out to be the right move.
