The City of Blue Ash's Board of Site Arrangement approved plans to build a new movie theater and restaurant scheduled to open in 2015.
Envision Cinemas is planned to be built at 4780 Cornell Road, which was the previous home to Bally Total Fitness.
The restaurant plans include more than 350 seats in a combined dining room, bar, patio and private party room. City officials said the menu will include made-to-order pizzas and flatbreads as well as a variety of appetizers, salads, wraps, burgers, entrees and desserts.
The theater will have seven auditoriums with motorized recliners showing first run films and special events. In addition, seats will have call buttons so guests can order full food and beverage offerings before and during the movie.
Envision Cinemas President Robbie Sosna said his company picked Blue Ash due to the strong economy and hotel environment.
"Blue Ash is a great place to live, work, and play and we felt as though it only made sense to launch our first business here," he said.
City officials said the project is being privately funded. Construction is scheduled to begin in late summer and will be completed by summer 2015.
Envision Cinemas plans to hire between 125 to 150 employees.
The facility will be the first of its kind in Cincinnati, according to a release from the City of Blue Ash. Versions of the concept exist throughout the country, but the Blue Ash location will be the first cinema eatery to have a full service restaurant component.
