TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

There was a decrease in businesses that sold alcohol to minors in Cochise County, this is according to a recent release from the City of Sierra Vista.

A Covert Underage Buying (CUBS) operation was conducted on June 13, by the Sierra Vista Police Department and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.  There were 42 businesses selected across Cochise County, this included Sierra Vista, Benson, Tombstone and Bisbee.  The businesses were selected by previous liquor violations, citizen complaints and other factors, said the release.  The selected businesses had on-sale and off-sale liquor licenses.

According to the release nine teens between the ages of 16 to 18 volunteered for the CUBS operation.  No fake IDs were involved, said the release, the teens carried IDs that stated they were under 21 years old.

Several businesses were cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors, said the Sierra Vista release. They included Peter Piper Pizza and Buffalo Wild Wings in Sierra Vista, the Stock Exchange Saloon in Bisbee and Doc Holiday's Saloon in Tombstone.

In a similar CUBS operation in December 2013, seven businesses were cited for selling alcohol to minors.
