Fireworks facts, safety tips

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The National Fire Protection Association wants to make the public aware of the potential for fireworks-related injuries as the Fourth of July approaches.

The organization's most recent fire analysis and research from 2011 shows that two out of five fires are caused by fireworks on Independence Day. There were about 18,000 total fireworks incidents in all of 2011. Click here for more in the report.

NFPA says even sparklers can reach approximately 1200 degrees Fahrenheit and can cause third degree burns. Check out the fireworks safety tips sheet here.
