TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson city leaders are appointing a temporary city manager.

Assistant City Manager Martha Durkin will take the job beginning August 1.

She's taking over in the interim for Richard Miranda, who's retiring at the end of July after nearly 40 years in public service, including a term as police chief.

Durkin has experience both with the city and with the Tucson Unified School District.
