TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Sierra Vista police charged a man with first degree murder in possible connection with a shooting death in the 300 block of N. Fourth Street.

Police originally identified James Jenkins as a person of interest after they responded to the scene of the reported shooting around 3:15 p.m. on June 17 and saw a Caucasian man in the area, according to department officials.

Police located Jenkins around 6:45 p.m. in an alley near 6th Street and Fry Blvd. and took him into custody without incident for questioning.

The victim, 47-year-old Jimmy Blessing, was found shot in the chest on Tuesday, but still conscious, and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Police said he identified Jenkins as the alleged shooter before he died.

Authorities booked Jenkins into the Cochise County Jail and he is being held on $1 million bond.
