Gasoline and explosives found in San Simon home

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Improvised explosive devises and containers of gasoline were found inside a home in San Simon Friday night, according to Cochise County Sheriff's Office PIO Carol Capas.

CCSO, along with San Simon Fire Department responded to the home on the 200 Block of Charles Lane around 8:00 p.m. following a report of a possible gas leak from a security company. 

The home was not occupied and authorities found 4 improvised explosive devices in the home, as well as several containers of gasoline. 

The Department of Safety HAZMAT team responded to the scene, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistance was also provided by Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office and Willcox Police Department.

Sheriff's Detectives arrived and the home was process and secured. CCSO is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Detectives have determined that the explosives did not belong to the resident of the home. There is not information regarding a suspect at this time.
