TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

It's been decades since local Vietnam Veterans returned home after fighting overseas. Now, some are continuing to fight—this time, for their family's health.

Vietnam Veterans met in Sierra Vista Saturday to discuss the possible health side effects Agent Orange has had, and continues to have, on their spouses and children.

Agent Orange is the named used for chemicals utilized during the Vietnam War to get rid of brush and plants. Local Vietnam Veterans of America President Bill Colberg says veterans are getting older and now want the government to care for their loved ones who may have been exposed.

"Children of Vietnam Veterans [are] having medical problems, learning disabilities and physical or even mental problems," Colberg said. "They're pretty common knowledge. We would like them to join the registry and ask them to support our future."

For more information on the registry and how to join, go to www.veteranshealth.org.
