TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The threat of wildfires in Arizona could affect 4th of July plans.

Tougher fire restrictions for parts of western Arizona and southeastern California will take effect on Friday, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

That means no camp fires on federal public lands, no smoking unless inside a car or in a building, and motorists will not be able to drive off roads or on trails.

Those who are busted could pay a $1,000 fine.
