(CNN) – Energy drink maker Red Bull has settled a dispute with the U.S. government over claims the company violated the terms of U.S. sanctions on Cuba.

On Friday, the Treasury Department said Red Bull has agreed to pay just under $90,000 over allegations it failed to get permission for the U.S. Treasury to go to Cuba in 2009 and film a documentary.

According to a more than half-century old U.S. boycott businesses are prohibited from going to the island nation without getting a license first.

The maximum penalty for the offense is $455,000.

Red Bull has not responded to CNN’s request for comment on the settlement.
