TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Strange posts from the Facebook account of 13-year-old girl, claiming to be responsible for death of Maribel Gonzales, have now been attributed to hacking.

Deputy Chris Nanos confirmed that, around  9:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Pima County Sheriff's Department began receiving information regarding someone confessing to the murder of 13-year-old Maribel Gonzales. The posts were being made on the Facebook account of another 13-year-old girl.

The girl denied making the posts and, throughout the course of the investigation, homicide detectives determined that the girl's Facebook account had been hacked. An unknown person was posting information on the girl's account about the death of Maribel Gonzales.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
