A Cincinnati Police officer on Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court pleaded guilty to two felonies.
Darrell Beavers, 45, pleaded guilty to attempted tampering with evidence (a fourth degree felony) and illegal use of a minor in sexually oriented material (a fifth degree felony).
Judge Ralph Winkler will sentence Beavers at 10 a.m. Aug. 7.
Last September, the parent of a 17-year-old Cincinnati Police explorer became concerned about his daughter's contact with Beavers. Cincinnati Police Explorers is a program set up for teens who may be interested in a career in law enforcement.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters has said the parent complained to police and an investigation begun.
Deters has also said that police discovered that Beavers had set up a false police substation at an apartment in the 2600 block of Bushnell Street in East Price Hill.
When police searched the apartment in late September, they found a bed, bedding, food, personal lubricant, videos and a night vision camera belonging to Cincinnati police.
Police have said Beavers destroyed a cell phone after he became aware of their investigation.
