Deadly motorcycle crash shuts down Speedway at Beverly in midtown

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson Police confirmed a motorcyclist died in a crash with a passenger car in midtown, on Speedway Blvd. near Beverly Ave. west of Craycroft Rd.

Sgt. Chris Widmer said the man on the motorcycle, identified as Curtis Gaylord was pronounced dead at the scene around 8:30 p.m.; the two passengers in the vehicle were not injured.

The crash occurred after the car was making a left turn from Beverly to go westbound on Speedway and it pulled in front of Gaylord's motorcycle, according to detectives with the TPD Traffic Investigations Unit.

Eastbound travel on Speedway was shut down for several hours last night as police worked to clear the scene.
