Complaints go up in the Arizona heat

Posted: Updated:
The Better Business Bureau says it sees a spike in complaints during the hottest months in Arizona.

Almost 20 percent of all complaints filed in Arizona in 2013 happened in the hottest months.  The big question is - why are consumer complaints so high during this time of year?

There are several things that are 'most complained about' during the summer months, according to the Arizona BBB.  They include truck rentals, airlines, door-to-door sales and auto dealers.

Truck rentals are high on the list due to the amount of people who move during the summer, said BBB officials.  There may be confusion on the size of truck needed and mileage costs.

A close second goes to airlines, think vacations, said the BBB Arizona.  Several people are upset about refund policies and additional fees.

Third in complaints are door-to-door sales, magazines are at the top of the list.  It is a job that relies on student employees working over the summer.

Rounding off the list are auto dealers.  The local BBB says this could be due to dealerships promising big summer promotions and deals that might not match the consumer's expectations.
