Amphi's Medford preps for Baylor

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It has been a long journey but Lester Medford will finally hit Division I this season.

The point guard, who helped lead the Amphi Panthers to the 2011 4A-II state championship, will enroll at Baylor University in Waco, Texas in the Fall and play his final two season of eligibility for the Bears in the Big 12.

Medford has bounced around since graduation. He spent the 2011-12 season playing at Arizona Western, but then redshirted the 2012-13 campaign while attending Pima College.

He enrolled at Indian Hills Community College this past season where he averaged 15 points and six assists and earned junior college All-American honors.

The Braves made it to the NJCAA National Championship game but lost to Jones County (MS) 87-77.

Medford is running this month with the Hot 98.3 team at the Tucson Summer Pro League at St. Gregory Prep.
