TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Sixth Avenue underpass downtown will be closed from Tuesday, July 8, 2014, through Thursday, July 10, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for repainting.

The underpass is being repainted to remove graffiti left on the walls. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will not be allowed to use the underpass during work hours.

The Department of Transportation advises those traveling north on Sixth Avenue to detour west on Toole Avenue to either Seventh Avenue or Stone Avenue. Those traveling south on Sixth Avenue to downtown should detour west on Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue to access Toole Avenue.

Crews from Graffiti Protective Coatings will repaint the underpass.
