20 years ago, residents on Thornydale were promised a four lane road along with pedestrian sidewalks and bike paths. That promise was never kept because the money for the project was allocated somewhere else. So Thornydale, North of Cortaro Farms Road, which carries nearly 30,000 cars a day, deteriorated until it is what it is today, a failed road.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Drivers will see a slower commute through Thursday, as construction crews work to mill and pave Romero Road, as part of the Homer Davis Enhancement Project.

Road improvements will take place on Romero Road between Wetmore Road and Roger Road. You'll see various traffic shifts, as workers move through the area.

Once this is complete, final paving will start on Romero Road July 15.

Always remember to slow down in construction zones and obey all traffic signs.
