Creighton Universitys Health Care Ethics program now offers an online Ethical Aspects of End-of-Life Care course available for both degree seeking and special students.
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) July 09, 2014
Creighton Universitys Health Care Ethics program now offers an Ethical Aspects of End-of-Life Care course that is available for both degree seeking and special students.
This course examines different end-of-life care practices including forgoing treatment, PAS/euthanasia, palliative care, sedation and decision-making for incompetent patients. Students reflect on their own views of disabilities, aging and dying; examine the merits of policies/legislation; and consider how society at large can come to appreciate those dying in our midst.
Creightons Health Care Ethics program is housed within the University's Center for Health Policy and Ethics, one of the largest centers of its kind globally. Faculty includes internationally recognized scholars, philosophers and authors who have the highest degrees in their fields. Program courses are ideal for those seeking advanced knowledge to help make a difference in their organizations; to educate colleagues, patients and patients families; and to research and impact health policy.
By offering this course to both degree seeking and special students, Creighton University enhances the rate of knowledge transfer to patient care as research results are disseminated both within and outside a particular health care discipline. The course is designed for professionals from a variety of disciplines which encourages identification of shared patient-focused concerns and common research interests and problems, and enables regular communication among learners and scholars from multiple disciplines. This also leads to increased interaction and potential collaboration between professionals in addressing complex societal and healthcare problems and questions.
Creighton is ranked #1 Midwest Regional University for the eleventh consecutive year and each course incorporates the Universitys core Catholic and Jesuit values of conscience, compassion and concern for poor and marginalized groups and individuals.
