Last month, on June 27, Border Patrol agents seized a truck near the Arivaca checkpoint, after the driver attempted to drive around it.

BP agents near Amado, responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle traveling off road through a local ranch, just south of the Arivaca checkpoint. According to agents they watched the truck run through a barbed wire fence near their location, they attempted to follow the truck that was driving erratically. The truck came to a quick stop and those inside the truck ran away, according to agents.

A search of the Dodge truck uncovered 55 bundles of marijuana, weighing a total of 1,216 pounds and worth an estimated $608,000.

Both the drugs and the truck were seized by agents and turned over to the DEA for processing. A search of the area turned up none of the suspected smugglers.
