TOMBSTONE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A man is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a 74-year-old man in Tombstone.

Carol Capas with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Leroy Colomy, 74, was shot multiple times and died at a residence on Safford Street, between 6th and 7th streets, just after 1:15 pm.

Capas said 60-year-old Barry Chappell was taken into custody after he drove to a nearby establishment near 6th and Allen streets and asked the clerk to call police because he said he shot someone. Authorities believe the two might have been involved in a verbal argument before the alleged shooting. Sheriff's officials said the suspect was walking down Allen Street when he was contacted by the Tombstone Marshal and booked into the Cochise County Jail on a charge of first degree murder.
