Two hospitalized in Smith County shooting

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two people were hospitalized after a late night shooting in Smith County.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened before 9:00 Sunday night on County Road 2343 near Troup. Officers arrived on scene to find two male victims, ages 38 and 48, who had been shot in their legs.

The victims were transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital where they received treatment for their injuries.

Witnesses stated that the shots were fired following an altercation involving one of the victims after which the suspects fled the premises.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
