TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Arizona's senators are pushing for action on the border crisis.

Republic Sen. Jeff Flake spoke on the Senate floor on Tuesday urging President Obama to stem the flow of unaccompanied kids crossing the border. He said Obama can use the $3.7 billion he requested, in part, to help trim the time for the hearings for the unaccompanied children, which lawmakers say right now could take up to two years.

He said there are plans to create legislation to have the children seek refuge in their own country at an American embassy or consulate.

Meanwhile, Republican Sen. John McCain sent a letter to Customs and Border Protection to stop restricting information about the holding facilities to both Congress and the media.
