On July 18th and 19th Nokian Tires will sponsor the 15th Swamp Soccer World Championship in Ukkohalla.
Lansing, Michigan (PRWEB) July 16, 2014
Between July 18th and 19th, in the legendary Vuorisuo bog of Ukkohalla, players will proudly engage in the 15th Swamp Soccer World Championships. Unlike the internationally famed World Cup, which has cost the Brazilian government several billion euros in field construction and preparation, swamp soccer is played entirely in naturally occurring fields of mud. The competition has arrested the attention of people around the world for years, and over 5,000 players belonging to 250 different teams are expected to attend. In combination with the 10,000 anticipated spectators from ten different countries, theres no overlooking this exciting event.
Last year, all six series in the 2013 Swamp Soccer World Championships were won by Finnish teams. Teams from several additional countries, including Germany, Russia, Sweden, and Iceland, and many others, will each be struggling through the thick bogs this year to reclaim victory. The sport has been accrued so many fans across Iceland that the yearly event has been declared the countrys largest summer activity.
While swamp soccer might not be as expensive to manage as the World Cup, it still requires sponsorship to operate. Thankfully, TiresByWeb.com partner Nokian Tires has been the title sponsor of the Swamp Soccer World Championships for several years. Why has a leading proponent of the tire industry become the leading contributor to a seemingly unrelated competition? The two have more in common than most people may be initially willing to believe. As a major provider of their products, leading online tire provider, TiresByWeb.com, asked the experts at Nokian to further expound on the similarities.
Swamp soccer and developing tires for the demanding Northern conditions both require perfect management of extreme conditions, seamless teamwork, passion, and dedication, says Antti-Jussi Tähtinen, Vice President, Marketing and Communications at Nokian Tires. Furthermore, swamp soccer is fun like our products that enable safe and comfortable driving.
The competition lasts for two days and consists of between 700800 matches on twenty 35 x 60 meter fields of varying amounts of mud. There are six series in the competition, with only one team capable of achieving the title of this years champions. Nokia Tires hopes that you will enjoy the edge-of-your-seat action inspired by the same practice, power, and performance as their expertly crafted series of tires.
