COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Gamecocks will win the SEC East this year and face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, according to media members who attended this week's SEC Media Days.

South Carolina received 1,895 points in the annual media ballot with perennial favorite Georgia coming in second with 1,777 points. Defending SEC East champs Missouri were picked to finish fourth in the division.

In the West, the Crimson Tide towers over the competition with 1,915 points to second-place Auburn's 1,735 points.

Alabama, meanwhile, is once again the media's pick to win it all in the SEC.

South Carolina's season begins Aug. 28 with the SEC opener against the Texas A&M Aggies.
