Kudos go out to the University of Arizona for its new tobacco policy.
Starting August 15, nicotine and tobacco products will be prohibited on all U of A owned property, including university-owned vehicles and even university leased property. The ban includes cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.
Facebook feedback has already been strong with many complaining that it is an invasion of their rights.
But think about it. It’s no secret of the deadliness of smoking, the CDC says smoking harms every organ in the body. And don't forget about the dangers of secondhand smoke to the students and faculty who don't smoke at all.
Public comments started in March and will continue until July 27. If you'd like to give a thumbs up or complain, you can e-mail the UA Vice President for Human Resources, Allison Vaillancourt, at email@example.com.
