ORDU, TURKEY (CNN) - Hundreds of Palestinians have fled eastern Gaza City after Israel focused their artillery fire on a neighborhood there.

The Hamas Health Ministry says at least 13 people have been killed.

More than 200 people are reported wounded.

The shelling came after Israel said it was expanding its military operation in Gaza.

On Saturday, Gaza officials say 62 Palestinians were killed - the biggest daily death toll so far.

At least two Israeli soldiers were also killed.

The Turkish prime minister compared Israel’s clamp down on Gaza to Hitler.

“They don't have conscience, neither they have honor. They curse Hitler from day to night but they have surpassed Hitler in terms of barbarity. Some Americans say why does the PM make such comparison to Hitler? You are America, what do you care? These people are being killed, you mighty America, instead of seeking for justice, you are saying Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel is using unproportional force,” said Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister.

Two weeks after the end of the Gaza war, there is growing evidence that Hamas militants used residential areas as cover for launching rockets at Israel, at least at times. Even Hamas now admits "mistakes" were made.
