HOUSTON (KHOU/CNN) - Houston police say a man pretending to be a veterinarian treated dozens of family pets before finally being caught.
Police say Wilfredo Gutierrez, 26, is not a licensed veterinarian, but has been acting as one for the last year.
They say he operated a business, made house calls, treated dogs and cats, administered vaccines and providing pet meds.
Turns out he worked as a vet tech at a clinic, which is how authorities believe he got ahold of those meds.
More than 50 victims have come forward and so far no one has reported their pet has died or fallen severely ill while under his care.
But police say there are likely more victims, specifically in northwest Houston.
Gutierrez has pleaded guilty to practicing veterinary license without a license.
He is also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
He's being held on a $50,000 bond.
