TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Customs and Border Patrol just confirmed to Tucson News Now that all immigrant children have left the processing facility in Nogales. The final four kids were picked up and taken to other locations in the past 24 hours.

The situation in Nogales has changed dramatically in the past few weeks. In June, over 1,000 children were held in the facility at one time. Those kids were flown and bused to the Nogales facility from the border in Texas because facilities in Texas couldn't handle the surge of unaccompanied minors.

On some days, three or four flights carrying illegal immigrants arrived in Tucson from Texas. The vast majority of the children came to our country from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

However, the government says the number of kids crossing the border in Texas has fallen significantly from last month to this month, from an average of 355 per week to an average of 155.

Despite the fact no children are in the facility in Nogales, it is not closing. CBP tells Tucson News Now, "The Nogales Processing Center remains an operational resource for Tucson Sector and can be used to assist in processing individuals apprehended in other sectors as operational demands require."
