Venus and moon shine bright together in the sky early Thursday morning

Early Thursday morning the crescent moon and Venus are neighbors in the sky. This all happens about an hour before sunrise at 5:34 AM. Look east, low in the horizon to spot these two celestial objects shining bright as dawn approaches. The below image is from EarthSky.org.

Other than the sun, Venus and the moon are the brightest objects in the sky. When they appear close together it is called a conjunction, which is defined as an "apparent meeting or passing of two or more celestial bodies" according to britannica.com
