Salpointe's Powell picks Nevada

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Salpointe Catholic linebacker Taylor Powell announced today on a live webcast here on the Tucson News Now website that he will play college football at Nevada.

Powell is entering his senior season for the Lancers after helping the school win its first ever state championship in 2013.

Powell, arguably the top football recruit here in Southern Arizona, chose Nevada over Colorado State and Fresno State. He is the first Arizona recruit for the Wolf Pack since fellow-Lancer grad John Romero.

The Wolf Pack will play host the Arizona Wildcats in 2015 which will give Powell a possible chance to square off against his former high school teammates Cam Denson and Kaelin Deboskie, both who will enter the Wildcats program this fall.
