TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -  Many schools in the area will start this week or in the coming weeks.

There is a need out there for children in a local shelter who are getting ready to go back to class.  Casa de los Ninos is looking for summer clothing and school uniforms for children.

They say several months of a full shelter have nearly depleted their supply of clothing for the warm weather.  The shelter has more than 40 children who usually arrive with just a stuffed animal or blanket, wearing only the clothes on their back.

Casa says for many of the children this will be the first time they have ever had a new shirt to wear.

Here are a few of the items they need - school uniform items, tan pants and shorts, collared shirts in navy or burgundy sizes 7 to 12, as well as summer clothing from size 0 to 18, like T-shirts, shorts and light pants.

The items can be dropped off at the 4th Avenue and Speedway office (1101 N. 4th Avenue) Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Let’s give a shout out and a little praise, with reservations, for the way the Teamsters and Sun Tran management pulled together to avoid another long, frustrating bus strike?  After all, One of the things we have NOT had to report on recently is a long, drawn out bus strike.
