TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The clock is ticking on a new contract for the bus system in the city of Tucson.

The Sun Tran contract is set to expire on Wednesday night if a deal is not reached.

A union rep says a strike is one of several possibilities, but it's not definite just yet. He says a big sticking point is that some workers with years of experience are still making the same as a new hire, about $13. 30, according to the current job posting.

Sun Link workers are not unionized, but officials say they'll be reaching out to them.

Tucson News Now reached out to Sun Tran for a comment but have not heard back.
