(ATLAS/CNN) - A Spanish priest who contracted the Ebola virus in Liberia arrived Thursday at Torrejon Air Base in Madrid.

Spain's Ministry of Defense used a medically equipped Airbus A-310 to transport Brother Miguel Pajares. Spanish officials said he would be treated at Madrid's La Paz Hospital.

Pajares was the first Ebola patient to be evacuated to Europe.

In the U.S., two Ebola patients who were in Liberia are being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
