TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Sunnyside Softball is going back to the World Series.

The young ladies however took the long route to Kirkland, Washington on Friday night.

Undefeated in eight post season games coming, Sunnyside lost for the first time, falling 5-2 to Fontana, California. The win by the Southern California kids forced a winner take all If Necessary game in which Fontana imploded defensively allowing Sunnyside to walk away with an easy 13-3 win.

Sunnyside (9-1) will take a core of girls to the Juniors Division World Series who have been on this stage before.

Seven of the ladies on Manny Tapia's squad won the Little League World Series last season at the Majors level.

The Juniors World Series starts on Monday.
