TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - PAWSitively CATS wants to exceeds its $10,000 fundraising goal by the end of August and win more grant money for its shelter.

The money raised will help PAWSitively CATS to care for the 300 plus cats they currently house in addition to additional cats that come in throughout the year. The funds will allow them to meet their increasing operating expenses in addition to having funds to provide food, litter, and crucial veterinary care including surgeries and medication, and other supplies.

The shelter won a $10,000 matching grant from Meilei's Fund held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona earlier this year. This grant was increased from the previous year by $2,000 because of fundraising success.

Executive Director Sheryl Campbell says in a press release, “Right now we have a significant number of older cats that require additional medical care and this costs us more and more money. In addition, we have to replace two heavy duty capacity washing machines to clean bedding for the cats. Things come up all of the time - our needs are ongoing and ever increasing.”

Funds need to be raised by August 31, 2014. Donations can be made to PAWSitively CATS in the following ways:

· through PayPal at www.pawsitivelycats.org
· by mail sent to PAWSitively CATS, P.O. Box 32115, Tucson, AZ 85751

In addition to financial gifts, the shelter is always in need of the following:

· Friskies pâté style canned cat food (pâté style food is necessary for cats with dental issues)
· Kirkland brand dry cat food from Costco
· ExquisiCat brand natural wheat litter from PetSmart
· Laundry detergent, bleach, and dishwashing liquid

These items can be dropped off at PAWSitively CATS' Adoption Center at 3432 E Ft. Lowell Road (on the south side of Ft. Lowell Road and next door to Outer Limits Day Care Center). For questions or directions, contact the Executive Director, Sheryl Campbell, at 520-308-2985 or by email at savecats@pawsitivelycats.org
