Evacuation lifted in Winona gas leak area

From Police Chief/City Administrator Bryan Richards:

WINONA, TX - City of Winona Utility employees located a gas leak in the 500 block of Hwy 155 at approximately 2pm today.

Local businesses as well as residents within the area were notified and evacuated for their safety. The evacuation has been lifted. The businesses and homes are safe to return to.
The gas has been shut off at this time. The gas will remain shut off throughout tonight to allow all the gas lines to empty. Tomorrow morning the gas line will be welded and at that point the gas will be turned back on.

After the gas has been turned on a  special team will be going to businesses and residences to assist with re-lighting pilots lights.

Special thanks to Winona and Red springs Fire Departments as well as EMS for their assistance with this incident.
