TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The lightning caused wildfire in the Rincon Mountains, has burned 1,097 acres according to National Park Service officials.

It is now at 75 percent contained, said officials and out-of-state fire crews are leaving the wildfire area.  A ten person crew from the Sequoia Type 2 Wildland Fire Module left on Wednesday, while a ten person crew from Yellowstone is scheduled to leave on Friday, according to a NPS release.  One seven person crew, the Saguaro Wildland Fire Module will remain, along with local resources until the fire is fully contained.

Rain in the area over the last few days is credited with helping slow the fire's progression, according to NPS, the wildfire area received 0.63 inches on Tuesday.

According to NPS officials the Deer Head fire has burned only federally-designated wilderness area in the Rincon Mountains; it has been allowed to burn out dry brush and over growth to clear the region and avoid a larger wildfire in the future.

All back country closures in the Rincon Mountain District will remain in effect for the duration of the Deer Head fire, said officials, to ensure public safety.
