TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Members of the Pima County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Unit rescued a woman Friday morning who was injured in a fall on Mt. Lemmon the day before.

Search and Rescue personnel and the Southern Arizona Rescue Association located the woman Thursday after a four-hour search. She had walked away from her campsite near Rose Canyon Lake.

According to Pima County Sheriff's Dep. Tom Peine, the nature of the woman's injuries and the location where she was found were considered in deciding to wait until morning to get her off the mountain. Emergency personnel remained with her overnight before she was airlifted out of the field aboard the Arizona Department of Public Safety's helicopter and taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson in an ambulance.

The nature and extent of her injuries was not reported.
