Metro officer injured after crashing patrol car

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro police officer was injured after slamming his patrol car into a brick wall overnight.

Metro Nashville PD says the officer was just a few blocks away on Hillsboro Pike running radar when a car blew past him.

The driver allegedly turned onto Burton Hills Boulevard and tore around a corner.

The officer tried to keep up with the vehicle but couldn't and lost control, slamming through a brick wall.

The officer was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the officer did have his lights and sirens on at the time.

The driver that the officer was chasing got away.
