PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Two people were displaced and a dog died in a Phoenix house fire on Monday afternoon.

No one was home, except for the dog, when the blaze started at around 4:30 p.m.

A fire rescue unit was returning from a call and arrived at the scene near 30th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in less than one minute, according to Phoenix Fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra.

Saavedra said the dog died from smoke inhalation.

The blaze was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
