    September is National Preparedness Month and officials are giving a list of the basics that the public should always have on hand in case of an emergency. Always have water, a battery powered flashlight and a first aid kit and have them on hand before an emergency hits.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident on Tucson's south side that left a 2-year-old boy in critical condition on Tuesday.According to deputies, a neighbor of the boy's family called 911 after finding him alone in the driveway, with a bleeding head wound. The family lives in the 3300 block of East Behan Street, near East Benson Highway and South Country Club Road.

Sheriff's officials said the child might have been hit by a car, based on evidence they found.

"I tried not to move him... in case he did have serious injuries, I don't want to make them any worse," the neighbor said. " He wasn't responsive but he was kind of looking around a lot... and he was moving. I know he was fighting. He was conscious. Yes he was conscious."

The boy is listed in critical condition at the University of Arizona Medical Center.

According to Dep. Tom Peine, the parents were interviewed by authorities at the hospital. No charges have been filed. Neighbors said the mother was home at the time of the incident and appeared to be shocked when she found her child in the driveway.

Detectives are still interviewing witnesses.
