TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -  Tipsy Tow service will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 31 and will run through 6 a.m. on Monday, September 1.

"As a leader in driver safety, AAA doesn't want Labor Day resulting in a work-release program," said Linda Gorman, director of Communications and Public Affairs for AAA AZ.  "It's crucial to plan ahead for a safe ride home.  However, if those plans fall through, resources such as Tipsy Tow are there."

For a Tipsy Tow, drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartender and/or restaurant managers should -

Call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) between 6 p.m. Aug. 31 and 6 a.m. Sept. 1., state they need a 'tipsy tow' and provide the driver's name, home address, phone number and vehicle/driver location.

Tipsy Tow services provide a free 10 mile tow home; for mileage beyond this, motorists are charged a standard towing rate.  The service does not include roadside assistance.

Though the Arizona Department of Transportation has reported that alcohol-related fatalities dropped by more than 7 percent in 2013, 262 people still were killed in alcohol-related crashes statewide.
