A Hackathon focused on healthcare technology

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 02, 2014

The University of San Francisco (USF) is teaming up with Prebacked, a company making social good entrepreneurship as accessible and profitable as social network entrepreneurship, to host MedHack, a weekend-long hackathon for talented developers and medical experts to spark new innovations in health care technology. The event will take place in the McLaren Conference Center on the USF campus (2130 Fulton Street in San Francisco), September 6-7.

The hackathon involves participants teaming up with like-minded individuals and developing new healthcare technology for web, mobile, or hardware. Each team will compete against each other, and a panel of entrepreneurs, healthcare, and technology professionals will judge the innovative products.

MedHack brings together an impressive line-up of executives including Nate Randall of Tesla Motors, Mark Su of Covidien, Julie Roberts of Dignity Health, and Aenor Sawyer of UCSF. These executives will be talking about what their companies need so that innovators competing in MedHack are developing technologies that meet real world challenges.

Furthermore, judges include USF Associate Dean & Computer Science Professor Chris Brooks, Sharon Knight, the former president of One Medical Group, and Neil Solomon, a vice president at BlueShield of California.

USF and Prebacked share a belief that the best minds of our generation can use their intelligence and ingenuity to transform, improve, and build better the world, said Prebacked Founder and CEO Garrett Dunham. We are proud that USF is our host and partner for MedHack and we cant wait to see what participants develop.

Awards will be given to those with the most practical, fundable, and best hack solutions.

I've never seen such a diverse gathering of health corporations, much less their executives, come together to inform a hackathon, said Dunham. Their insights, coupled with our talented competitors, is the perfect combination of intelligence and determination needed to create much-needed innovations in health care technology.
