TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels decided on the refresher training, after an incident that occurred several months ago - all workers would participate in a mandatory training class.

The incident happened when a man, coming in to pay a citation, collapsed unconscious; office workers tried to help stabilize the man and get him breathing again, but were unsuccessful.

According to the release Sheriff Dannels reviewed the case and determined that CPR and first aid was vital to the CCSO mission. The Detention Lieutenant Ariel Monge researched companies for training and determined that Rally Point Alpha (RPA), an Arizona company would provide the training.

The mandatory training in first aid and CPR was attended by everyone in the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.

'As a result of this training, all of our staff regardless of position or title, feel more empowered and more knowledgeable about what actions they can take to make that very important difference,' stated the release.

CCSO thanks the training team at RPA and its personnel for participating in the training with enthusiasm and the anticipation of making themselves better.
