Gamecocks to open 2015 season vs. UNC in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WIS) -

The South Carolina Gamecocks will kickoff their 2015 campaign against the North Carolina Tar Heels in Charlotte.

The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 5, will now be play on Thursday, Sept. 3 as a nationally televised content.

"We are very excited to kick off the 2015 college football season right here in Charlotte," said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. "Hosting a game between these nationally known programs is tremendous for the city of Charlotte and the entire region. Playing the game on Thursday night to open the season on national television is a great honor. It is also a great chance to once again showcase the city of Charlotte to a national audience."

The game's ticket information and kickoff times will both be released at a later date.
