(CNN) – Congress intends to get more information on the Obama administration's strategy against ISIS.

Secretary of State John Kerry will testify at a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs committee later this month.

In the hearing on Sept. 16, the Republican-led committee says it will ask Secretary Kerry to hear a comprehensive strategy for combating the terrorist organization.

President Barack Obama has been catching criticism for a week, after stating his administration was didn't have a strategy yet for dealing with ISIS in Syria.

Others have stated a strategy in Syria needs to be based on better intelligence than the United Sates had at the time Obama made the statement.
