TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Construction kicked off downtown Monday, as part of a sewer repair project which takes place through December 10.

Pima County Regional Wastewater has partnered with B&F Contracting, Inc. to repair the sanitary sewer between Granada Avenue and Simpson Street.

During the roadwork, a 100 to 200 foot foot traffic control zone will be set up along Cushing Street. This is near The City of Tucson Fire Department. Because of this, the center double left turn lane will be closed. However, neither the eastbound nor westbound lanes won't be impacted.

Traffic control devices will also be in place along Simpson Street, between the frontage road and Otero Avenue.

In order to minimally impact travel, crews will use a "trenchless repair" method, meaning no excavation will be necessary.

Always drive carefully in construction zones. Slow down for workers and equipment in the area.
