SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista will close its east gate in a few weeks for paving work.

The gate will shut down on December 25 and should reopen on January 4, 2015. Crews will specifically pave the intersection of Hunt Road and Hatfield Street.

Traffic exiting the base from Hunt Road to Hatfield Street will have to detour on the frontage road up to Bissel Street, then exit back onto Hatfield Street.

While this construction takes place, Fort Huachuca's main gate will be the only way to enter or exit the base. The east gate is expected to open the morning of January 5, 2015.
