Homeless Persons' Memorial Day honored at local service

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The lives of those who died in poverty or homelessness will be remembered on Friday night at a local memorial for National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day.

The Primavera Foundation's service, open to the public, will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the west end of the Everygreen Cemetery, where those who passed will be honored through music, speeches and readings, organizers said.

Updated statistics from the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty state between 2.5 million and 3.5 million men, women and children are homeless every year, and more than 1 million people working full or part-time could not afford housing.
