TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Stanley Johnson scored 17 points to lead the 3rd ranked Arizona Wildcats to a 60-55 victory at UTEP.
The Wildcats were the highest ranked team to ever play the Miners at home.
UA jumped out to an early 13-point lead with the dominant defense the Cats have displayed all season. The Wildcats held the Miners to just one field goal in the first 7:16 of the game.
But UTEP rallied behind the play of sophomore forward Vince Hunter who scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds before fouling out with 8:12 remaining in the game.
Gabe York scored nine points for Arizona. T.J. McConnell also had nine points and dished out eight assists.
The Wildcats are the first team in college basketball to win 12 games this season.
